Ben Rain
English, Film Criticism Teacher

I came to Marist in 1999 in my late 20's, a parent of two small children. I am honored and delighted to be a staff member here at Marist, an exceptionally caring and warm community. I have the privilege of being part of a supportive, energetic English Department in which each teacher is encouraged to teach to his/her own strengths and passions.

My two children are now teenagers, and as of September 2011, I am entering my 13th year teaching here at Marist! Outside of teaching and parenting my strong interests include movies and progressive media and politics.

Education:

After attending a Catholic, all-boys high school in St. Louis, I completed my B.A. in English at the University of Chicago in 1994. I went on to receive my Master of Arts in Teaching from Pacific University here in Oregon.
