Father Ken Olsen
Fr. Ken Olsen came on board as our campus chaplain starting this school year. Born in Seattle, Fr. Ken is a graduate of St. Mary Grade School in Eugene and a 1965 graduate of Mount Angel Seminary High School. He did his post-secondary studies at the Catholic University of America in D.C and the University of Innsbruck in Austria.
He was ordained in Innsbruck in 1973 and served in Oregon City and Ashland before settling in British Columbia for 25 years. It was there that he returned to the Rite of his origin - the Ukrainian Greek Rite of the Catholic Church. He currently has faculties in both the Roman and Ukrainian Greek Rites.
Locally, Fr. Ken has served at St. Michael’s in Oakridge and St. Henry’s in Dexter and has been a chaplain for Sacred Heart Medical Center since 1999.
He has hit the ground running at Marist, celebrating many school Masses including the late-night Freshman Lock-In and the Junior Men’s Encounter. He is thrilled to be surrounded by youth and told the freshman class at a recent Mass that each time one of them greets him, he feels ten years younger.
