_At Marist, it is our goal to provide a top-quality education for every student that seeks that experience here. Although Marist tuition is one of the three lowest in the state, we recognize that it represents a substantial investment for families. With funds provided by the Marist Foundation, the Archdiocese in Portland, the Knights of Columbus and other generous donors, Marist financial aid and scholarships can help many students who, without this support, would not be able to attend.
A total of $745,000 in financial aid was granted in 2011-12 alone to over 175 students. Of the families that applied for financial aid, the total financial aid/scholarship package averaged $4,300 per student.
Should I Apply for Financial Aid?
Marist encourages all families who feel that they need assistance in meeting the cost of tuition to apply for financial aid. Financial aid decisions are made by a committee based on factors including family income, assets, number of children and outside assistance. The calculation of each family’s need is complex; therefore, eligibility for financial aid is difficult to predict.
Please note that this process is independent of the admissions process. A family’s ability to pay is not part of the admissions criteria.
How to Apply
You will apply for financial aid online at factstuitionaid.com. FACTS Grant and Aid Assessment, an independent company, processes the applications and makes recommendations to Marist regarding the number and amount of awards to be granted. FACTS carefully analyzes the information within your application and charges a $25 fee for this service. Financial privacy is a growing concern among families. FACTS gathers and secures all of your supporting financial documents. Data from your application is accessible only to the Financial Aid Committee and is kept strictly confidential.
The deadline for financial aid applications is March 19, 2012 so please do not delay. Notification of financial aid awards will be sent by May 1, 2012 with the tuition contracts. Other Sources of Financial Aid Available Through Outside Resources:
