| One Family at a Time
A man walked along a beach where hundreds of starfish had washed ashore. He picked them up and put them back into the sea to save them, but he realized that he could not possibly make a difference because there were so many. As he placed yet another starfish into the water, he said "I hope I make a difference for that one starfish." This is the inspiration for Project Starfish, which runs from Ash Wednesday, Feb. 22, through Easter.
Solving issues of poverty and homelessness seems an impossible task. However, we can make a difference one family at a time. We ask you to participate in the activities of Project Starfish and to make a personal donation to assist families in need. Requests for assistance have increased significantly over last year and social service organizations are struggling to meet the needs of homeless families throughout the Eugene-Springfield area. We partner with St. Vincent de Paul - they select families, use the funds we provide to help these families get into shelter, and guide them in stabilizing their lives and moving confidently into the future.
