For all 8th grade applicants.
Marist Catholic High School requires all 8th grade applicants to take a placement test. The test used for placement is the “High School Placement Test”. (HSPT)
In addition to transcripts and teacher recommendations, the “HSPT” test is used to help assess a student’s placement into the Marist curriculum. The tests scores are only one indication of the student’s academic ability. The tests scores are used for course placement and do not determine whether or not a student is accepted for admission.
The test will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. and finish at approximately 12:30 p.m. Students should check in at the front office at 8:15 a.m.
The test provides national normative measures in the following cognitive and basic skills areas: verbal and quantitative skills, reading, mathematics, science and English language. The test does not require any preparation or studying. There is no writing sample.
Students should bring two #2 pencils. They may bring water.
A break with snacks will be provided.
The test scores are mailed home as soon as scoring is completed, along with course selection information to those families who have completed the enrollment process for their child.
