2025-26 Parent Welcome Letter
Dear Marist Families,
I hope you are enjoying a restful and refreshing summer. As the 2025–2026 school year quickly approaches, I wanted to share some updates and information to help you and your student(s) prepare for the fall semester.
We are excited to welcome several new members to the Marist community this year. Fr. Mark Padrez will be joining us as our Chaplain and will be working closely with Alice Meyer, our Director of Campus Ministry. We are also pleased to welcome Alexis Brisco and Alicia Wishart to the World Languages Department, and Lukian Efseaff to our Theology faculty. Please join us in extending a warm welcome to these educators as they begin their journey at Marist. We look forward to the gifts and talents they will bring to our school community.
Off and Away Cell Phone Policy
This year, in an effort to reduce unnecessary distractions and create a more focused learning environment, Marist will be implementing a "bell-to-bell" cell phone policy. This means that students will not be permitted to use their cell phones from the first bell of the school day until the last. There is a strong consensus among experts and educators (see an example here) that limiting cell phone use during the school day has many positive benefits, both academically and socially. To that end, Marist will adopt an Off and Away approach: all student phones must be turned off and kept out of sight for the entire school day, including during lunch, breaks, passing periods, as well as instructional time.
We encourage you to speak with your child about how they plan to follow this policy, whether that means keeping their phone in their locker, car, or backpack throughout the day. The policy will go into effect on the first day of school, with the first week serving as a warning and adjustment period. Beginning in the second week, enforcement will begin, and appropriate consequences will be applied for students who violate the policy. We appreciate your support as we work together to create a school environment that allows all students to succeed and thrive.
Schedules
First draft schedules were emailed to both students and parents/guardians. Schedules were sent to all registered students. If you have not received a schedule, please get in touch with our Business Manager, Nicole Prentice, at [email protected]. A final draft of the schedule will be given to students at Welcome Back Day/New Student Orientation, which will be held on September 2.
When reviewing your child's final schedule, please keep in mind that class periods and teachers may have changed between the draft version and the final schedule. If there appears to be an error or if there are questions, students should email their counselor (contact information is listed below). Schedule changes may only be made under certain circumstances. The schedule change policy is available for review in the Family & Student Handbook posted on the Marist website.

Books & Supplies
After feedback from families, we have shifted our model for textbooks and supplies. We will no longer be collecting a textbook fee. Families are now free to purchase the books from the vendor of their choice. The links below will provide you with the supply list for your child's classes and the method for purchasing textbooks through eCampus (if you choose them as your vendor). Other vendors or publishers may offer the book at a better price, such as ordering directly through Vista Higher Learning for World Languages, or offer buyback programs that are similar to eCampus, and many books may be easily found at local bookstores. When using eCampus, you can select new or used books to purchase hard copy editions, or you can get the ISBN and find the books through another source. For science classes, students will need to secure their materials through eCampus. To utilize the eCampus buying model or to shop for supplies, please find the corresponding books/supplies that fit with your child's course schedule.

If you have not already done so, please complete your student's annual enrollment forms. Navigate to your student's online admissions portal. Select your student's name to view the 2025-26 enrollment checklist and fill out the following forms:
Welcome Back Day for Returning Students: Tuesday, September 2
We look forward to seeing all returning students on Tuesday, September 2. Students must be in dress code, and attendance is required. During their assigned time on campus, all students will receive a final draft of their class schedule, have a school photo taken, and receive a school ID. You will receive a follow-up email with more details about Welcome Back Day for returning students.
Freshmen Retreat & Orientation and Ice Cream Social
The Class of 2029 Retreat & Orientation will be held from 8 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. on September 2. Students will participate in student-led activities, have a pizza lunch, have their photos taken, and learn their class schedule. This counts as an attendance day, and students must be in dress code. Students will NOT need iPads, school supplies, or textbooks. All students will attend regular classes on Wednesday, September 3.
If you have not already done so, please RSVP for the Ice Cream Social and iPad/Tech Orientation that takes place on August 19. If you are unable to attend the event, we will provide alternative options for the iPad/Tech Orientation.
Transfer Student Orientation
New students in 10th, 11th, and 12th grades will have orientation from 8:30 a.m. to noon on September 2. Parents are invited to attend for the first hour. We will have breakfast treats, general orientation information, opportunities to meet classmates, student-led class tours, and Tech/iPad distribution.
School Photo Information
You can easily preorder and pay for your student's photos by visiting mylifetouch.com and entering the Marist Picture Day ID EVTGR4BPW.
Athletics
Fall practices begin on August 18. Please check the website for specific practice times for each program. All students must have a current physical to begin practice on August 18. Physicals are valid for two years and must be on the OSAA-approved form. All athletes and parents must complete the athletic participation agreements before the first contest for their team. Those agreements can be found on the front page of the athletic website. Finally, we are having our first annual Meet the Spartans Night on Friday, August 22, at 6:00 p.m. at Gail Roberts Stadium/Kevin Teller Field, where all parents and fall athletes are encouraged to attend.
WCEA Accreditation
Please note that there are three WCEA accreditation days on the calendar this year. These are days set aside for our accreditation committee to go through the self-study accreditation process. No classes will be held on September 22, February 9, and April 13. Please see the school calendar for more information.
Future Communications
As we progress through the school year, you will receive important information via email. Please ensure that a current email is always on file with the front office. Remember that our school calendar is the best way to stay updated on all things Marist. The calendar is available on our school website.

- Vehicle Registration Form (required for students driving themselves to school)
- Family Volunteer Form (for families interested in volunteering during the school year).
