Director of Library, Media, and Research Services

POSITION SUMMARY
Directly reporting to the Assistant Principal of Teaching and Learning and the Principal, the Director of Library, Media, and Research Services helps provide leadership, vision, and skills which reinforce and support the school’s vision of learning that students find meaningful, engaging, and lasting. Through effective day-to-day management of the library, this position promotes transfer learning through engagement with the curriculum, developing and implementing a campus-wide information literacy program, actively supporting teachers’ curricular needs, and providing guidance to student information and project planning needs.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

• MLIS, MLS, or Licensed Teacher with School Library Media Endorsement from an accredited college is strongly preferred. (BA or MA from an accredited college or university required.).
  
• 2-5 years’ relevant experience in college, high school, and/or middle school library or related setting
  
• Skilled teacher, proficient in effective instructional strategies, curriculum building, planning lessons, delivering instruction, and performing assessments
  
• Knowledge of the principles and practices of library science and skill in technology.
  
• Proficient with research process and tools, collection development, and common library resources.
  
• Knowledge of current copyright laws and legal regulations regarding the fair use of materials.
  
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaborative skills.
  
• Ability to build positive, productive relationships with all faculty and students
  
• Ability to organize work, set priorities, meet deadlines, and follow up on assignments with minimal direction.
  
• Able to analyze, integrate and interpret data from various sources such as testing data, library usage, and current trends in education, in order to provide insight for curriculum and collection development.
  
• Able to identify and solve problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  
• Able to concentrate and pay close attention to detail with constant breaks in concentration associated with meeting the needs of students and teachers
