Head Girls Basketball Coach

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Work in collaboration with the school’s Athletic Director to provide an optimum basketball program for the Marist student athletes
Provide leadership, organization and coaching for our Varsity Girls Basketball team
Oversee JV and Freshman Girls Basketball program/teams, including working with the Athletic Director to hire assistant coaches
Determine the system of play to be used in the program at all levels
Impart Knowledge and implementation of fundamental skills used in basketball
Communicate effectively with student athletes, parents and school administration
Work cooperatively with other Marist coaches to share facilities and maintain a cohesive department climate
Embrace and support Marist’s Catholic school mission, philosophy and values
Be an ambassador of Marist to all competitors, the community, and the media
Promote the Marist Girls Basketball Program among middle school aged students who are prospective students
Fundraising

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES and QUALIFICATIONS:

Successful varsity coaching and playing experience
Knowledge and experience in all phases of the game
Leadership and organizational experience
Strong and effective communication, organizational, and planning skills
Ability to motivate students and staff in order to build a positive program in line with school mission and values
Ability to build strong relationships with student athletes;
Successful applicants must meet all OSAA coaching certifications and Archdiocese of Portland background check and Child Protection requirements.
Must show proof of Covid-19 vaccination per current Oregon Mandate OAR 333-019-1030
Type 20 activity bus certification or willing to complete activity bus certification

SCHEDULES & COMPENSATION

This is a seasonal and stipend position. Meets are typically during the week with possible weekend tournaments. Practice times are set by the coach.
This position reports directly to the Director of Athletics.
The stipend range for this position is based on previous coaching experience
