I have been teaching for 5 years at Marist. I have taught Astronomy and Physical Science and I am the facilitator of the STEM club at Marist helping students compete at the Oregon Science Olympiad and the Oregon High School Bridge Building Competition. I have three degrees, starting with an Associate of General studies from Lane Community College. I completed a Bachelors of Arts at Northwest Christian University in Teaching with an emphasis in Secondary Science Education. I recently completed my Master of Education from Bushnell University with an emphasis in Physical Education. I started this quest when I was 34 years old and started teaching at the age of 40. Before going back to school, I worked in various trades that involved electrical work, iron work, carpentry, and HVAC. I went back to school because I always felt teaching was my true calling and it has not disappointed me, I truly love teaching and it does not feel like a job. I have not travelled the path of what most people imagine as a typical science teacher. I try to bring practical and real world examples from my previous experience to the science classroom.
