Marist's Theology Department
The Theology Department approaches the study of theology from the perspective of “faith seeking understanding.” Fundamental to this study is the conviction that mature Christian faith is aided by a thorough and thoughtful understanding of the tenets of that faith. For our Catholic students, it is a challenge to comprehend and more fully embrace the teachings and practices of their church. For our non-Catholic students, it is an invitation to better understand and appreciate the teachings and practices of the Catholic Church. While the theology classroom deals principally with information, it is also an opportunity for all students to develop their personal faith and to be challenged by the gospel. In this sense, it moves into the arena of Campus Ministry by encouraging a knowledge that moves one to conversion.
