Credit Recovery

Credit recovery work done by a student does not replace a grade already on a transcript. Rather, an additional grade will be transcripted, hopefully showing a higher grade than the previous one in a specific course. Credit recovery options recognized and accepted by Marist Catholic High School include the following:
  • Re-taking a Marist course or substitute course in some circumstances within the regular school year.
  • Enrolling in online classes through one of the institutions below:
Upon completion of an off-campus course or courses, please request that an official transcript be sent to Marist H.S. so that the appropriate credit may be recorded.  Please notify your student’s counselor (spimental@marisths.org, for last names A-Kl, and cwirth@marisths.org for last names Kn-Z) before enrolling them in a credit recovery course, to ensure proper placement. Credit Recovery Options include:

West Lane Tech (WLT), (541) 935-2101, westlanetech.org
  • Registration June 24th  & June 25th  (application and counselor signature required)
  • Class dates run from July 1st (Mandatory Orientation) to August 2nd.
  • $150 per .5 credit – maximum of 2 classes/1.0 credit (but just .5 in some cases. WLT feels it is not realistic for a student to complete two courses, depending on the specific classes)
  • NCAA Approved
  • Teacher assistance available online or in person (school is located in Veneta)

BYU, 800-914-8931     elearn.byu.edu
  • .5 credit for each course selected
  • Not NCAA approved at present
  • Registration is ongoing
  • Price varies, but typically $156.00 per .5 credit (for online courses; teacher-led courses are more expensive)
  • Free online tutoring available
  • When registering, list Marist as your high school, and select a proctor (Mr. Oldham or Mr. Wirth)
  • Coursework is completed online, but each class has a final that must be proctored at Marist. The student orders it when coursework is completed. Email your counselor if you need a final proctored in July. Dates will be available in mid-to-late August for students to have their finals proctored at Marist.

Contact the Marist Counseling Department if you have questions or need more information prior to June 21. The counselors will be out of the office starting June 24, 2019 and returning August 19, 2019.
