Mission Statement
Marist Catholic High School is a Christ-centered, welcoming community committed to academic excellence and preparing students to lead and serve others.

Philosophy
To prepare students for this world and the next, Marist works in partnership with its parents and families with fidelity to the Gospel of Jesus Christ as reflected in the teachings and traditions of the Roman Catholic Church. As such, our first and foremost belief is that each and every person has been created in God's image. This truth permeates every facet of the school community and from it flow two basic assumptions: the highest human calling is to love and to be loved and the whole person is to be cherished, developed, and cared for.

With Christian faith as the foundation, education is a process that pursues wisdom and truth. In such an environment, education becomes a permanently self-expanding activity, leading to understanding and freedom. It is characterized by a palpable sense of self-discipline, graciousness, charity, and hope.

While Marist is called to address directly the many educational and spiritual needs of its students, it is not the students alone who are served. A Marist education inspires students to become moral, caring, and competent leaders who, with a sense of joy and zeal, place their gifts at the service of the common good and pursue a social order that is attentive to the welfare and rights of others.

Integral Student Outcomes
To cherish, develop, and care for the whole person means we strive to be attentive to every component of a student's humanity: the spiritual, the intellectual, the social, and the physical. Each is essential and each complements the others. It is our hope and intent that upon graduation a Marist student exemplifies the following characteristics and attitudes:

CHRIST-CENTERED
·        Develops a relationship with God and strives to live according to the Gospel values of Jesus Christ.
·        Acts with integrity in all relationships, demonstrating charity, kindness, and respect toward all.
·        Respects the diversity and wonder of all of God’s creation.
·        Is knowledgeable about the teachings, traditions, and practices of the Catholic Church.
·        Actively engages in prayer, liturgy, and spiritual reflection, knowing the value of belonging to a community of faith.

COMMITTED TO ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE
·        Engages intellectually by taking responsibility for personal learning, cultivating curiosity, valuing precision in work and communication, and demonstrating academic integrity.
·        Achieves proficiency in the disciplines and skills required for graduation and post-high school success.
·        Uses information and technology effectively and ethically to support authentic learning.
·        Contributes to respectful and civil discourse that builds a community of belonging.
·        Understands that faith and reason are integrated and complementary.
·        Recognizes learning as a process and responds with resilience to intellectual challenges.

  • Pursues balance of their physical, mental, social, and spiritual well-being.

Marist Charism
Out of the principle of love, exemplified in the life and teaching of Jesus and lived out by Saint Marcellin Champagnat, flows the values that animate the Marist way of living the Gospel. Five distinctive characteristics, or “pillars,” define the educational style and philosophy of Marist schools.

FAMILY SPIRIT:  We relate to one another as members of a loving family, creating an environment of welcome, acceptance, understanding, and mutual respect. With a desire for everyone to feel at home at Marist, we strive to build a community where everyone belongs, and where everyone is valued.

SIMPLICITY:  Our relationships are honest, genuine and straightforward. We seek to do good with humility and sincerity, allowing the action of God to work through us. We strive for and encourage an integrated and balanced life, reliant on God.

PRESENCE:  We are caring, attentive, and readily available to all members of our community. We seek to understand the lives of young people and meet them where they are, creating a positive climate for learning, passing on values, and personal growth.

LOVE OF WORK:  We are enthusiastic about the work of the school, and with Marcellin as our model, we are willing to do whatever is needed for the sake of the mission. We assist young people in recognizing the dignity of work, and by example, we demonstrate that work gives purpose and meaning to life.

IN THE WAY OF MARY:  Inspired by Mary’s journey of faith, we are open to God’s call in our lives. Our discipleship, like Mary’s, gives witness to God’s mercy and solidarity with people in their need and suffering. With tenderness, selflessness, and strength, we are called to bring Christ into the world.
